My thesis is an amalgamation of traditional fine art mediums with craft art. By merging these materials, I questioned the value of fine art over craft art, and how the implications of these values impact women, who have been the major contributors to craft art throughout history. Additionally, this project was driven by my love of Process and Materiality. I loved how the materials dictated the process from the ground up in this piece. From the woodwork in the frame and the stretching of the canvas, to the quick gestures of the molded acrylic paint and cutting the canvas, and finally, to the tedious process of knitting and embroidering, the materials drove the transformational process of my Thesis.
