Hello! Welcome to my Portfolio!
I am Ava Cunningham, a Colorado native constantly inspired by the world around me! All I need is fresh air, the grass beneath my feet, and a pencil in hand. After graduating cum laude from Colorado College as a Studio Art Major and English Minor, I have continued to pursue art and developed my skills.
I am a mixed media artist, often working on drawing, painting, textiles, and woodworking. Although these are my preferred mediums, I have in-depth training in architectural drawing, digital art, printmaking, filmmaking, and ceramics as well. Additionally, I have a full understanding of the elements and principles of design and have a complex understanding of global art history.
In my work, I often meld mediums together and use their innate qualities to play with texture, depth, color, and light. Currently, one of the main driving factors of my work is how materials drive process. I lean into the material's qualities and allow them to inspire how the art piece is made. I often feel I am creating my artwork alongside the materials.
I currently live in Boulder, Colorado with my dog. I continue to work as a mixed-media artist and am developing projects with found and recycled materials. I also am furthering my reach through gallery work with local artists in the area.
